my older sister never liked the norm when it came to music, she would buy cds that i had never heard of, which was cool because i had a great taste in music by the time i was 11. One cd she brought home was the sympathetic sounds of detroit, which was actually produced by jack white of the white stripes. funny that... if you listen to this album, the white stripes song (red death at 6:14) is one of my least favorite songs on the album. i guess they were the most poppy so thats why they got famous and no one else did.
don't get me wrong, jack white is a talented guy but he could have been so much better. shes terrible, lets just say it out loud. i don't have much rhythm and i could easily drum better then her. i digress.
Through this cd, which features music from the hentchmen, soledad brothers, detroit cobras, buzzards etc, we found a whole genre of music that really didn't exist anywhere else. I came to call it detroit rock and roll, because its dirty rock/blues. amazing.
this is one from the soledad brothers called teenage heart attack. keep in mind that none of these bands made any money through there music. like i believe one of the soledad brothers is a doctor by day.
the soledad brothers are no longer together, which is kind of sad really.
i found our theres a documentary called it came from detroit but you cannot get it anywhere. it's my mission to watch it now.
i'll write more on this later. I leave you with one of my favorite songs, love by the hentchment.
