womens role in the work place in world war two.

I watched a clip about womens hair in the workplace from the 40's on my sisters blog thing and thought it was pretty funny. about how veronica lake helped the war effort by putting up her hair. it was hilarious. but then i found this one and thought it was a joke. but it was quite serious.

Dali

Thanks to a friend of mine, I went the opening of the Salvador Dali exhibition at the MoMA a few weeks ago. I had seen quite a bit of his work when I went the the Dali Museum in Barcelona back in November. The Dali museum in Barcelona was filled mostly with his illustrations, statues, and photography. The exhibition at the MoMA was more to do with installation art and his film escapades.
I was surprised to find out that he had created a movie for Disney that was never made. His work is quite dark and odd for a childrens film, but i suppose its right up that time periods alley, along with Fantasia.

They had sets from the Hitchcock film he did the sets for, Spellbound, which were quite magnificent.

even though he was a crazy drunken womanizer, he had some amazing art, excluding his melting clocks that everyone seems to know him for. they are quite boring. but his illustrations of people are some of the most incredible illustrations i have ever seen. anyway, theres my rant on dali.
